Happy Thursday!  We, here at Holiday Golightly, are almost-almost-almost ready with our new and improved website, which will offer several NEW (you're getting that it will be "new" right?) features.  One of which will be a category called "On Our Radar" which will be any and all Girlfriend Getaway trips that we stumble across, in which we think you might be interested.

These will not, necessarily, be trips we book for you, but rather trips that are offered in destinations that we will most likely be adding to our arsenal at some future date.

The Women's Spa-Sail Escape Week package includes six nights' accommodations—for the price of five—at the 225-room Pink Shell Beach Resort and Spa. It's located at the tip of Estero Island, a seven-mile-long barrier island commonly known as Fort Myers Beach. The highlight of the package is an Offshore Sailing School's sailing or power-cruising course of your choice: "learn to sail" for beginners, the intermediate "performance sailing," or "bareboat cruising preparation." Austin, Texas is located almost smack-dab in the middle of Texas, and is surrounded by beautiful hill country.  Even the phrase "hill country" is relaxing, so you're one step closer to total and utter relaxation, which is what you'll find in our spa weekend.

You will be picked up at the airport by towncar, and driven to your accommodations.  Put your hiking shoes on and work up an appetite on the spa trails.  Dinner (and all other meals) will be a delight of fresh, wholesome ingredients.  The following day you'll wake up bright and early (but not too early) for a good morning hike/yoga/water aerobics class. Throughout your stay, you'll have activity options available, and free time to spend in the sauna/hot tub/steam room, at your discretion.  On your final day you'll be picked up and taken back to the airport.

On a clear day, Seattle is a truly dazzling place to behold.  The Cascade mountain range to the East, the sparkly waters of Puget Sound to the West; with the ferries silently gliding from dock to dock… is your head tilted to the side – dreamy look on your face?  If not, you’re not doing this right.

 

 

Maybe you need some coffee.

Come ON – you KNEW we’d mention coffee when discussing Seattle.  In the Queen Anne neighborhood, at the corner of Queen Anne Ave. and Boston St., there are no fewer than 4 coffee shops.  That seems a little excessive, but it totally explains the real reason Tom Hanks was sleepless here.

The flannel/grunge thing is about as current a reference as any quote from the first season of “Friends” (could grunge BE any more over?).  Seattle has definitely stepped up the style quotient in the past 10 years, and the Belltown, Ballard and Fremont boutiques are a testament.  Testament, testify, buy yourself some shoes!

There are plenty of chic lounges, wine bars, and restaurants downtown, and in the closely surrounding neighborhoods.  Seattle is definitely a "neighborhoody" city, and each of the 'hoods offers a distinct feel.

 

Midway between San Francisco and Los Angeles is Pismo Beach, and the Dolphin Bay Hotel & Residences.
